Ivermectin 6mg is used to treat worm infections in the intestine, skin, and eyes. This medicine works by killing the worms.
Ivermectin is also available as Ivermectin 12mg
Ivermectin Tablet may have side effects like nausea, dizziness, weakness, diarrhoea, sleepiness, etc. These side effects are mild and may subside by themselves. However, consult your doctor if they bother you for a longer time or worsen. Avoid driving vehicles or operating machines if you feel dizzy.
Ivermectin is to be taken on an empty stomach. It is usually recommended as a single dose. However, your doctor may suggest you take this medicine a few times a year at relevant intervals till the infection is completely cured. Do not take more than the recommended dose.
Ivermectin should be avoided if you are allergic to it. Inform your doctor if you have any other health problems or taking any other medicines. It is not recommended for use in children with a bodyweight of less than 15 kg. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or are breastfeeding.

- Onchocerciasis
Onchocerciasis (river blindness) is a worm infection caused by Onchocerca volvulus and is spread by the bite of an infectious blackfly. It is characterised by severe itching, bumps under the skin, and vision impairment. If left untreated, this condition may also cause partial or complete vision loss. Ivermectin Tablet is used to treat this condition.
- Strongyloidiasis
Strongyloidiasis is a parasitic infection caused by Strongyloides stercoralis, or sometimes S. fülleborni. It may cause abdominal pain, diarrhoea, rashes, etc. Ivermectin Tablet is used to treat this condition.
- Scabies
Scabies is a skin infection caused by the mite called Sarcoptes scabiei also known as itch mite. It is characterised by tiny red rashes with constant itching. Ivermectin Tablet is used to treat this condition.
When not to use?
Allergy
Avoid taking Ivermectin Tablet if you are allergic to it. Serious allergic reactions to this medicine are rare. However, seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms such as skin rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, breathing difficulty, etc.Warnings

If you are co-infected with Loa loa (an infectious condition caused by a type of worm known as Loa loa) during treatment with Ivermectin Tablet, it may cause an increased risk of encephalopathy (a condition that affects the function or structure of the brain and causes damage). Therefore, if you are in Loa loa endemic areas, a pretreatment assessment for such infection is necessary.Use in children
Ivermectin Tablet is not recommended for use in children with a body weight of less than 15 kg.Driving and operating machines
Ivermectin Tablet may cause side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, or tremor. Hence, if you experience such symptoms, avoid driving vehicles or operating machines.Missed Dose
Since Ivermectin Tablet is usually given in a single dose, the chances of missing a dose are low. However, in some cases where your infection has not cleared, your doctor may recommend additional doses after a few months.
